The Model becomes Reality

Our house is really starting to take shape, quite literally! Compare this photo with the one at the top of the blog page: Here you can see the how the curves on the front balconies and the terrace are starting to look like those on the model:

This photo shows how the new house is sitting on the block in relation to the old boatshed:

Inside, the scaffolding that was holding up the second floor has now been removed, and we can finally see the size of our open living area: Jacob coming out of the pantry behind where the kitchen will be:

Looking back towards the family room: Upstairs, the roofing has started going on; and the block piers to hold up the Garage have been built. To the right, you can see the formwork in place for the internal stairs up from the Entry Foyer to the Garage. Apologies for the gap between posts; our 12 month lease for our rental has now expired and we have had to move house to a smaller, but lovely, place in Sutherland.

We are also well overdue for a holiday after moving again, so will be off to the snow next week. Watch this space!

Brick walls completed and roof battens going on

This week the builders started on the Laundry, which is on the South Western corner of the Bedroom level, and underneath the Garage.
Here you can see Paul Healy, just back from a knee reconstruction operation, on the roof installing the battens for the roof sheeting.
Big Mark standing in the entry foyer area with the study window to the right.
We got to check out our new Laundry for the first time.
The slot you can see on top of the nearest brick wall is for a beam to support the garage above.
Still lots of rain this week, and much of the site is slippery and muddy, but at least the boys continue to make progress!
