We are a family of short people, who have worked hard over the past few years to build ourselves a new home in "the Shire"

Framing almost complete; everything but the front door!
Saturday Morning, 7am, had a site meeting with contractors to measure up balustrading for the balconies. It was cold, but the tide was in and the site felt so peaceful. Unfortunately we forgot to bring a camera with us, however lucky mobile phones have cameras in them these days. The wall framing is just about done, and the window frames have started to go in too! Here's what it will be like to look out the front door:Well there will be a set of timber stairs, just like on the model. For those who know the block, you can see how close it will be to the old power pole.We have also found some old ironbark posts to hold up the curved roof over the front door; they'll be here soon - this is where they'll go:Looking down from the driveway, you can see the circular beams to support the curved roof over the entry foyer:And this is what the view will be like walking up the stairs from the lounge room and looking up through the skylight windows at the trees:Looks like its just about ready to have the 3 curved roofs go on... can't wait!
Having lived in "the Shire" almost our entire lives, we have been tirelessly planning our humble abode for over 5 years now. We previously lived at this location between 1984 and 1992, and have been captured by the mild climate and sensational northerly aspect across the North West Arm of the Hacking River.
We hope through this blogsite our Friends and Family can watch our progress as we enter the final stages of turning our dream into a home.
This blogsite is developed using an iMac PowerPC G5... Gotta love the Mac; it just works!
